MV影像中,僧人們以身體履行著信仰的三個行為:雕刻(創造性)用粗獷的手將岩石擊打成象徵,賦予其意義。槌牆(破壞性),槌倒石牆、推翻信仰,回歸為無,而後生;而拓本(複製性),是對神學的記載,在裂紋痕跡上拍打墨色,保存、傳遞,後世詠唱新的神蹟,然後再循環,以重複、機械式的敲擊動作呈現血肉之軀有如輪迴般所構成的神性。
In the MV, the monks enact three faith-driven gestures with their bodies.
Carving (creativity): with rough, forceful hands, they strike the rocks into symbols and give them meaning.
Hammering the wall (destruction): they break down stone walls, overturn beliefs, return everything to nothingness, and from that, allow rebirth.
Rubbing (replication): they record theology by pressing ink onto cracks and textures, preserving and transmitting it so that future generations may chant new miracles.
These repetitive, mechanical striking movements express a kind of divinity formed through the cyclical, reincarnation-like nature of the human body.
