Fully 3D-animated music videos are a rarity in Taiwan due to their high production cost and time demands. Yet for David Tao’s MOONCHILD, Frequent Headache boldly embraced this medium to delicately portray the protagonist’s youthful loneliness and vivid inner world.

Crafted in a distinctive hybrid style—3D animation rendered with a hand-drawn 2D texture—the film tells a surreal lunar odyssey. A solitary boy on the moon intercepts cosmic signals through an old television set, embarking on a journey across time and space in search of belonging.

The MV’s outstanding art direction shines through in every detail—from character design to environment and color palette—evoking a fresh, magical aesthetic that feels both intimate and otherworldly.
